Don't wipe your tears away....

Ouch! Who knew that wearing mascara and then wiping your eyes really HURTS? I sure didn't, wow, what an ouchie. Was totally not expecting that. I guess that's one of the drawbacks of wearing the clear stuff. I've never really rubbed my eyes with the black stuff because it came off on everything. Humpf, concealed evils of clear mascara. I discovered THAT last night. Oh, joy.

Spent monday night voting in some new board members for next year. Was an interesting process where all of the seniors crammed into Totran and my room and then voted for people. An interesting balloting process. Of course, between voting and discussion of pros and cons, it devolved into a rather disgusting game of "would you rather...." --- with things like drinking diarrhea or period blood, watching porn every night with your dad or never having sex again in your life. (eeeurg!) Yeah, don't ask. It was HILARIOUS, and at the same time, extremely disturbing, since who would take EITHER option if they had a choice between the two? haha

Gotta go turn in my Zaca lake application today. Hm.

Oh, some girl in my psych class wants to copy my notes. haha, good luuuuuuck! I may go to class every day (whew, 8am class sucks) but who knows If I'm actually coherent enough to write the information down intelligently. Heh. Anywhoo, she'll call me later today, I think. I'll try to meet with her. I didn't get her my notes right at the end of class, because I have a feeling that I might need them in one of my meetings today (since my notebook has the notes from almost ALL of my classes, it's sorta important, and I don't want to give it to just anyone). Poor thing, I think she was sorta lost/teary-eyed--so I took pity on her.

Hm, I should probably meander back to the house, take a nap, change my clothes (and do some laundry) and then go to my line dancing class. Except there's an Earth Day celebration down in Bruin Plaza, and I should go to that. I'm not sure when it starts though, so I'll have to find that out. THEN decide whether a nap is feasible before my dance class. Meh!

Why is life so bloody busy? Career week is this week. I need to polish up my resume today. Yahoo. And maybe change my registration to take hula instead of taking TWO dance classes on tuesday. Cuz yeah, I haven't really been as dilligent about going to my Cuban Salsa classes as I'd like. Grar, and that makes me feel really guilty. I've missed ONE, and I'm so fucked....at least with hula I can catch up!

GARDEN ACCOMPLISHED

Am very excited (albeit exhausted)! The UCLA sustainable garden has officially been ESTABLISHED. Earth day (today) 2006. It was fun too! After some initial snafu's about where we were actually going to put it ---ie: boundary lines and etc.--- we got the go ahead, and removed the sod, put up the fencing, painted two signs, and started the compost heap! I even added some ashes and lots of orange rinds and leaves (from the branches we used to make the fence posts and stuff). We made the sides out of piled sod, and a few cinder blocks for ventilation. I'd better find a tarp within the next few weeks to keep it moist in there...

Overall, it looks really impressive--within the next week or two, we'll actually build the beds and put them in. Oh, and find dirt to fill them with. But it's pretty neat---we moved all the logs around the fence, so people can still sit on them and stuff. It's actually really going to look quite nice when it's all finished and done!

Hopefully all the people who came will post pictures of the garden--someone was mad taking pictures the entire time we were there. Very awesome, maybe we'll get some more daily bruin exposure. Or even some facebook exposure!

I'm just massively excited, because I remember just having the IDEA of the garden, like a DREAM. And now it actually exists, has been made and is developing. I almost want to scream and jump up and down, "WE DID IT! WE DID IT!" And SO many people showed up to help--at least 20, not counting the core 9 or so for E3 and the garden project group. AND, we planted three trees (free~!) two avocados and one orange. More to come in the weeks ahead.

The only downside to the whole wonderful, dirty morning, is I think my face is slightly sunburned, despite my sunblock and hat. Eh.

Nice weather for garden building though--sun, and then clouds, sun, and then more clouds. It got kind of cold around three, so we all started leaving then. Still, good times, bob marley music, dancing, soccer, and eating all ocurred. Sweet!

It's been wonderful. Getting dirty for a good cause like that is just so...refreshing. You know? I like feeling the grass and dirt under my feet, and building a legacy to leave to the campus of UCLA for all the years after is just wonderful. Freaking fantastic!

And the day's not even done...
