Moms, Khakis, and Life In Genera

Um, just had the most IN-ter-esting experience. Saw my big sis Bridget online, attempted to say hello, and met up with her....mom?!? instead. Whups. I hope that I didn't fuck things up too badly. Shit, wish I'd saved the file, it would have made interesting reading here. Essentially, it went something like this:

Me: hi big sis (etc etc)
(b's mum): its mom
Me: Mom? bridgets mom?
(b's mum): Hello
Me: Hurray!
Me: Hello!
Me: This is elaine
(b's mum): that's nice
Me: Nice to meet you!
Me: I'm her little sis
(b's mum): thats nice. thank you. nice to meet you. love you. bye.(or some such thing)

Confused. Was I just a complete idiot, or did I come on a little too strong? Must be the result of that tea I drank. A whole potful, all to myself, of the Constant Comment earl grey. With sugar, of course. Whups. I swear, my brain malfunctions dreadfully under the influence of caffeine and sugar. Guess I should eat some REAL food. Now her mom probably thinks I'm an utter nutter. Ha ha, that ryhmes. Too true.

Ehh, to lazy to walk to covel.

So, have found out when the evil math test is that I need to take to get into calculus. Which means I must brush up on all precalc math. Ha. And here I thought I'd never need any of my math skills ever again. Have a vaque (probably well founded) idea that life is going to be painful before I take that test. Shit. Ah well. Library, tomorrow. Right off.

Roomate has returned. Nice to have someone else here. I've been lonely. There, I admitted it. Pathetic, isn't it? Especially since the Douche (adam) has only been gone a mere 12 (maybe) hours or so. He's fun to hang out with. Nice to have a friend to drag me out of my room and down to the Best Buy in westwood to buy cds. Even if it's bad that we are a singularly corrupting influence on each other's money spending habits--I bought "The Young and the Hopeless" and "Permission to Land" and a cd carryer. Ah well, was fun spending money.

Oooh, and we were sufficiently lazy to get a ride back up to the dorms, on the pretext of him transporting the pilfered water dispenser and gallon jugs to his new apartment. Which is a LOVELY apartment, by the way. Really nice, hard wood floors, nice kitchen.... Wow, I think I'll be buggin' them a lot this next year. Err, may have to bring offerings of booze. Once I become 21, of course. Whohoo!

He really is a perverted younger brother. Ha! Bridget would be proud of me. So would Brooke and Sarah, for that matter. Ha ha. That's it, it's official. I'll have to give him a sufficiently demeaning "lil bro" something or other. Heh, he's already got a NAME, of course. "Douche"~!

Am living in the house this year--sorority, I mean. Am beginning to become quite excited about it. Huzzah! And, am becoming quite anxious to move in there. Not that this room isn't nice, but as I discussed with the roomie, packing all my crap is half the fun--unpacking, unfortunately, being a chore. One that usually promotes procrastination. Maybe I can move in early. Little sis mentioned that the other day. Hemmm, something bright and cheery to consider in my future. Ooh, and I have a present for her, that will hopefully be ready at the end of the week. I hope.

Working tonight, all night. Standbye for "the freezer." I swear to god, I thought I left all the joys of a cold workplace behind when construction finished on Hedrick hall... But no, now Rieber is going under construction, and while working there I am forced to wear my thick wool jacket and sit in the second floor breezeway from 9pm-5am. No longer do I wonder why I always have winter clothes in my closet. Probably because I work at hours of the day when the sun's heat is nonexistant, and therefore, prefer not to freeze. Damn. It's even cold during the summer. Nothing like home in Garden grove, when the coldest time of the night is right before dawn...and not to mention, sometimes not even then, due to humidity. Blech. How I wish for that here, near the rather cool ocean breezes...ugh, 65 year round. Now I remember with startling clarity why I didn't pick Santa Barbara to go to school at (that and the pot reputation)--- cold, year round. Ugh. Wish I hadn't sent my gloves and beanies home. My head and extremities get colder than the rest of me. Damn my idiocy.

Hm. Purchased a smut book(The Nerd Who Loved Me), Brave New World (which is creepily riveting, so far), and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in paperback. Paperbacks just seem to last longer than the hardbounds. Especially the HP books. Wonder why. Prolly because they're cruddily made (hardbacks). Must consider which books I wish to take with me to read next year. Also, Wish to buy Siddhartha. Hm. Need to start (and finish) all my library books, pronto. Maybe I'll renew them. They're due on the 9th of September. Yes, that's the ticket, I'll renew them. The whole bloody stack of them.

Allright, urges of the body call. Bathroom, Food, then, the unfortunate need to shuck my comfy jeans and put on (evil, nasty) Khakis for work. Bleh. Hmm. Can I procrastinate, please? Am starting to hate khakis.
