Fuck I'm hungry. I have to wait untill three when crossroads opens and then it's MEXICAN food for me!

Yay, remembered online bank password and was able to check my account this morning. Hooray! Mom gave me money! So now, maybe I'll do my laundry and homework tonight. I'm going to go over my computer science stuff again...maybe I'll understand it better this time?! And, I can take my epsilon sis out for cofee or something. And, I'M GOING SAILING TODAYYYY!!! So happy. We leave at 415 from Ackerman turnaround.

Huh. Sorority life, eh? Well, we talk about everything! boys, jobs, sex, politics, current events, the funnies, relationship advice, food, anime, pets, vacations, weddings (one sister of mine is getting married in a lighthouse), how tired/burnt out/ditzy/silly we feel from lack of sleep/too much studying, How to get fake id's, what events are coming up, community service, food, and whatever else you can think of. The conversations are never boring--that's to be sure! We organize charity events like "celebrity dodgeball" to help kids with AIDS, volunteer on campus as tutors, or at the library, work, go to school, and are generally like every other college female out there, except we have a big "support group" that we live with. Sorry, nothing too exciting or scandalous, huh? Um, most of the girls party when we have "date parties" or at the local bars in westwood. Some don't party at all. It just depends on the person's personality. That's sorority life for you!

blah, that's it for now. I'm gonna go check my email...

Gawd, just got some more computer science homework today. Am SO FUCKED. I have to learn EIGHT programming languages in the space of a week, goddamnit! And my sister thinks i'm taking some "dumbass" computer class. HA HA HA

Oooh, sisterhood dinner is tonight. I hope its really good. I'm starving. I'm scarfing down popcorn right now, i'm so hungry. Damn!

Well, the computer is sort of working. It's still fucked up though. It takes forever to start up--like half an hour. But hey, it works. (mostly) and I can post. That's a big bonus. Hooray for bonuses.

I am so fucking poor. I had to call mom this morning and ask her to give me money so I could do my LAUNDRY! Pathetic. That's it. I'm getting a bloody job on campus. Who needs free time anyways, right? uhg. ugh.

Went to bed at a decent hour last night....1ish. I actually woke up at 640. What's WRONG with me?!! I must have caught up on my sleep and have not needed so much rest. I just laid in bed until the alarm went off at seven (I was supposed to get up and do my laundry)... So, I had a leisurely shower and breakfast... and then off to class. And, I've de-fragged my computer at least three times today. BOTH drives. And it's still bloody slow. Rats.

I tried, I honestly TRIED to do my homework. It's kicking my ass though, without much trying. Ah well, back to being whipped, and then maybe...dinner??

Wow, it's been a busy week. Loser sailing team didn't have practice on friday, so I went and worked out for an hour, and then, decided to go do a couple laps with Eric (my next door neighbor) when he asked if I wanted to go. Then, I went over to Heather's on friday night and watched "about a boy" with her and Julie, and had some lovely white wine. Been a long time since I had wine. I got home at like 330am when Heather drove us back to the dorms. I then got up at six the next...um, day... (AUGH! alarm didn't go off at five) when Monica came by (sorority sister) to wake me up....grabbed all my stuff for ISVT stuffed it into a bag and headed off to Santa Barbara for the volleyball tournament. So, I got like two-to-three hours of sleep total. And Phil was a punk: I called him three times to try to get my cds and see if he wanted to hang out, and he finally called me back at like three pm when we (Julie, Rojia, Monica and I) were already in the car heading home. (And I was sleeping). I had to use Julie's cell phone. I REALLY need a cell phone. GRRRRR. One good thing: I got a TAN! or burn, whatever. I did try to keep slathering on the sunblock...

As soon as I got home, I took a shower, then went straight to bed and woke up at ten am today. Ahhhh, sleep. After I woke up, I spent the day organizing what I needed to get done, calling people, writing letters, and finally heading off to the LA Festival of Books. Which was, by the way, very cool. I enjoyed it immensely, despite having no money. Ah well. Window shopping is always good. AT 450, I headed over to the Sorority Life forum at Hillel....to hear the girls from Sorority 101 talk. Sad how they think that they were actually projecting a GOOD PR image of Greek life and Jewish culture. REALLY sad. Anyhow, have just finished my article about that for the feminist magazine "FEM" that we have on campus. I wonder if I should post a picture of it if it gets published?

I didn't get much sleep on tuesday night, but I finished the video and TH was really impressed with us. He even wrote me an email (which i'll post a transcript of) thanking us. WOW, was that worth all the effort. (Despite me falling asleep repeatedly in my computer science class that day....)
Here's what he wrote to me:

From: "T.H."
To:
Subject: A special thanks

Hi Elaine,
Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated the terrific job you did as producer/director/editor/titler/composer of the superb film you showed in class. You should feel very proud., Not only is your talent evident but you stimulated and inspired your classmates and have started the ball rolling, setting a high standard. Can't wait to see what your next act is!
Thanks again and congratulations on a fantastic job!

Wow, I feel special. Hey, a new thought--- I found out we DO have a t'ai chi club on campus! It meets on thursdays. This is good, because now anime club meets on tuesdays. Covenient! I can't wait to go. Maybe I'll be able to start a group in the morning....I hope so, since I seem to be getting up early most days. No club this week though, the instructor is out of town. Next week, I'm SO ready.

Anyway, I'd better go to bed. s'long!

Tuesday, April 22, 2003

Well, we found a camera. Thank goodness, though it took a lot of walking around to finally get one from audio visual services. What a PAIN they are. Ah well. We didn't finish filming either, so we get to finish up today. that reminds me, I gotta write tome and tell him no sailing for me today...got too much to do. Dangit. AND I've got so much homework. I'd better go get started on it. more later perhaps.

Monday, April 21, 2003

Oooh, forgot to mention that I went wandering around the Block on saturday, shopping...and got my black bathing suit for ISVT!!!! Hooray! And we got drinks at Johnny Rockets when we got hot and tired...mmmMMMmm, strawberry lemonaid. (i finished amber's second lemonade besides two straberry ones!) Go me! My tummy sloshed a lot for the rest of the day tho. Slosh slosh. whoops, gotta run!

EEEEEG! EEEEG! Heeelp! I need a digital camera and I need one FAST. We're filming (supposedly) a video today for my environmental science class...but NO camera. GAWD. Where is TH when I need him. Damnnit.

On a good note, I had a marvelous easter. Except for the crappy church service part. uck. I got sidetracked on friday because I was trying to get my adobe premiere to work, (and i did! I did!) and forgot that I was supposed to be taking the bus/subway/train home. So, I left at like 830 on saturday and got home at like 11 something. Not too bad! There wasn't much traffic. Unfortuately for me, i had the worst ever experience on the amtrak trains of my life. the conductor lady was a BITCH! So sad, because I've always enjoyed taking the train...its less hectic and road-rage inducing than the freeways, usually. Fuck you stupid amtrak lady, you and your shit wiping boss. Can;t believe them. I heard other passengers complaining too. Wow, that's how you lose customers. If I didn't have any other way to go home, then I'd SO quit taking the trains.

Cousins were fun. Amber is at the clingly 6 year old stage. Was glad that Julie didn't take ME shopping with her though. She took the two girls, katie and amber. Thankyouthankyouohlord! Saved from having to agree with my sister's strange sense of style. I personally don't care much for showing skin...I'm so white I'd sunburn myself. Ouchie! and low cut pants aren't particularly flattering to the female body. They make your stomach look fat. ewww. I already have enough issues about my little stomach "poochie"-- i din't wanna hafta worry about MORE! That, and I'm NOT TANNED!

Had a lovely time at the family picnic on sunday. Love going to those things. All the wonderful memories they infoke with all of my older relatives. It was marvelouse to see them all together again-- UBEE, Aunt shirley, Aunt Nancy, Uncle Al (looking quite frail at 95 years!), and popoo, who is doing nicely with his hearing aide. Good for him for wearing it. Was fun as well to hide all the easter eggs for amber to find, though she was rather skeptical...DOH! Aunt Kate had to convince her... It's so hard nowadays, kid's are so cynical too. Kind of a shame about the type of atmosphere of distrust that our society creates. Ah well, waxing boring here. Must away to class! WRITE MEEEE~!

Thursday, April 17, 2003

Jeezes. I'm getting really sick of this. Every time I talk to my sister on the IM, all I get is shit about how I'm some little immature dumbass in comparison to my all-knowing-the-shit older sister. I'm SO sick of it. So, I blocked her IM. She wants to contact me, she can just fucking CALL me. All I said was that I was going to get a cell phone, and she told me that i should just buy one myself. Well, fuck you, I AM! I've just got to convince dad to get it for me because he gets by far the best deal on a cell phone package. So what If I'm paying the bill. And she tells me to suck it up.

Does she even understand? I LIVE IN FREAKIN' LOS ANGELES. That's LA. It's not SAFE around here at night to walk alone, and a cell phone is a safety line. Also, I can use it for coordinating study groups, sorority events, sailing events, and stuff. AND, it'd be so much easier for family and friends to get in touch with me, since it's so impossible now.

So, whatever. Fuck her for ruining my perfectly nice day. I spent the afternoon getting all tired out walking around campus trying to find filming locations for a movie we're making. And, I went and found some cool flowers out behind saxon in the old "deer preserve" area with my editor/classmate/homie Jackson. Yay flowers! They made me very happy. It's a veritable herb garden back there. Cool. I love botany. I brought a bunch of stuff home to be pressed until it dries out. I think I'm in love with environmental science. HOORAY!

Ah well, I'm hungry. Dinner time now. Cavewoman must eat. And icky stupid older sister who is immature and doesn't know shit can go screw herself. That's putting it pretty nicely, isn't it?

Tuesday, April 15, 2003

Wow, peepz. I haven't posted for like a whole WEEK! ...Or so. How very sad. Well, I'll try and catch up all at once, okie?

Well, wednesday I had a fantastic environmental science class, once again. I swear, I really love that class. I came home with so many ideas that I just had to write them all down. I walked around the whole evening, writing down stuff...What fun! I can't wait to show TH my slideshow.

Thursday night, I went to Heather's apartment and we made cookies for "our" marines. I still haven't gotten a letter back, so I guess that I'm not going to get one. Fooey. We all made a batch of cookies....I even made my special chocolate chips...mint flavored, for a change. (I never knew that you could substitute other stuff for the vanilla). Friday I went to the tv taping with the sailing team-- that was really marvelous. I think that "Kid Mayor" is going to be a REALLY funny show, and I hope that it actually makes it (we went to the pilot for it). I got home at like...um, late? And went to bed, woke up at seven to call my mom (she had to deliver my dress for formal the next morning). Ha ha dad answered because mom was still like asleep. Heee heee. And she said SHE gets up early. Suuuuure. Anywhooo, AFTER calling her, I went BACK to bed until Julie called me at ten to see if I wanted to go have brunch. I stumbled (read: yeah, you heard me) downstairs via elevator, and then had to wait until the stinkin' dining halls opened at ten thirty. I swear, it's an INJUSTICE! I get up earlier than ten on weekends! Just not this weekend! BooooooooOOOOOooooOO~! After breakfast, we walked down to westwood for flowers and butoniers ($6.50!) and then went down to hilltop for Julie to get a nailpolish that matched her dress. Then, off we went to WAC SMASH dance concert at 2pm for an hour, and rushed back to shower and dress. We were sort of late doing everything, because loraine wasn't around to do our hair (So I had to) and then had to do everything else really fast. So, no pre-partying alcohol, but turns out I didn't really need to, because tyler was a BLAST. Talk about a guy who is not only funny, but can dance, is intelligent...start drooling, peepz! As everyone advised me in my sorority (he aaha ha ha) "He's a keeper!" Had a lovely time at the disneyland hotel...in the pavilion room. Got home at like 2am, went to bed at 230, woke up at eleven and started getting ready (breakfast, etc) for the honors induction at 1pm the next day in De Neve Auditorium. Fun stuff. Saw Erin Stace there-- fantastic being able to talk to her again, since I haven't really had much of a chance since coming to UCLA....After leaving my volunteer work at the hospital. I miss all my homies from St. Joseph, even Chad....ha aha ha loves ya Chad-homes! Then, puttered around for the rest of the day, cleaning room, trying to get comp to work (cd burner) and all that good stuff. Was glad that mom and dad came to the honors induction-- am excited about going home and seeing them this weekend. I really do miss my parents. They've been around/friends for 18+ years of my life, and when I don't see them for a while, I get kinda sad. I like seing them. Unlike other people here, who seem to want to completely avoid their parents. Maybe because mine are so cool... I like being treated like an adult!

Hmmm. Meeting was last night, it went on FOREVER! That's because we had a rape awareness presentation, which was cool, but then we had meeting FOREVER afterwards....good grief, sometimes I really wanna kill something. AND, then we had a stupid ISVT meeting. Honestly, I don't care about going to santa Barbara anymore. *Siiiiiiigh* I still have to buy a swimsuit and sarong. Eeesh. And shorts. Ten bucks. Ah well.

So, I have no life. Who woulda thought?! More later, brain is fried by mtv shit...about avril levigne, who I actually like....latz

Tuesday, April 08, 2003

Well, went to class today. Our ACTUAL ta showed up for spanish. I think that I liked the Argentinian guy better. He was more interesting and easier to understand. That, and he was nicer and less scary. The chick we have now has a spanish accent--the really annoying lispy one. GAWD, save me!

I guess that I forgot that heather wasn't going to meet me today for lunch, but tomorrow. I swear I'm so blond! Except, I'm not. Hee hee, but my sister is, and BOY do I tease her about it.

My yellow roses are so lovely. I like them very much. They're surviving pretty well on my desk. Speaking of my plants on my desk, I should really water fang and nitro. And, Heather's two plants. I think I might keep them if she keeps forgetting to get them. I think Fang may have some sort of blight, or else the pot is getting too small for it. The leaves are turning brown in splotchy patches. SCARY! WahHHhhhh! I keep watering them twice weekly...

I have SO much reading I have to get done today. It's almost unbeleivable. But first, I think that I'll slather on some sunblock and go visit Jane-- her sorority's philanthropy is today in Bruinplaza. I'm excited! Off I go...

Monday, April 07, 2003

Ok, so, there's even MORE today. Hm. Meeting was very exciting. We got our social calendars (damn!howmIgonnadoallthis!) and found out that some of the girls got their letters from their marines. Exciting! I can't wait to get mine. Speaking of that, I think I'll write my person another one, since I'm so impatient. Also, Julie and I are hoping to go over to heather's tonight to make cookies and put together a care package for the guys in "Jame's" squadron/group. Should be fun. Can you tell I know nothing about the marines? Ask me about the navy, I MIGHT know, but nothing else. That's what I get for being born into a seafaring family. (Go UBEEE and Popoo!) Oh, explantation, right? Well, we started a pen pal thing with the marine's in Sarah's Fiance (james) squadron. And hopefully we'll get their letters back soon--some already did, like Cara Hope, Corinne and peepz. WOWEEEE!

Ok, the current plan for the rest of the night is to do research, make cookies at heather's and to do a LOT of reading. I WILL DO THIS!!! No IF's, AND's or BUT's.

Well, That's it, and a zen thought for the day:

Staying at Bamboo Lodge

An evening sitting under
The eaves of the pines;
At night sleeping in Bamboo Lodge;
The sky so clear you’d
Say it was due to wine
Meditation so deep,
Thought I’d gone home to the hills
But Clever can’t beat Stupid
And Quick won’t match
Quiet Untoiling-ness!
You just can’t pave the Way
That’s it, the Gate of Mystery!
- Po Chu-I (772–846)

An interesting idea, isn't it? I think it means something along the lines that "Sleep is the greatest adventure next to death, and the peaceful night encourages the soul to contemplate." Dunno. What do you think of it? Send me a note, yes?
Later!

TYLER'S GOING TO FORMAL WITH MEEEEEEE! HOORAY!

Shit, my muscles hurt. My calf muscles, butt muscles, stomach muscles, arm muscles-- EVERYTHING muscles HURTS! But, I did have a lot of fun at St. Francis in San Francisco this weekend. What a beautiful place to sail... Within easy view of the Golden Gate, and lots (read...WAY too much) wind for sailing. Saturday, We only had our jv a sail, and b they sent back in because it was blowing like 40 mph. DAMN.

Ha ha ha. We went drunk bowling that night-- imagine getting drunk by swigging vodka straight from the bottle and then chasing it with a swig from a coke liter bottle. Whew! I have decided I REALLY don't like the taste of vanilla vodka. ICK. Then, after that, we went to some place along telegraph near the berkeley campus (scary, like new york, but scary) and got pizza. Then, (me being exhaused from like 3 hours sleep the night before) they dragged everyone to a bar...and we just walked in and sat down (missed being carded completely!!) and started drinking like crazy. Name of Blake's, actually. I didn't drink, and kept falling asleep. I tried everyone else's drinks though. I had a cosmopolitan, an alabama slammer, an adios motherfucker, and some other stuff I don't remember. Yum! Too bad we didn't do any family drinking, my sister and me. Rats. Next time, I hope.

Ha ha, they finally picked me up on friday. That was so frustrating. I'm starting to realize that I NEED A CELL PHONE if I really want to be on the sailing team/do ANYTHING around campus. There's just no freakin' way to get in touch with me at all.

After we all were trucking along, drinking like crazy, there was a solid chorus of "i gotta go pee"'s the entire night. And, we couldn't use the bathroom b'cuz if we did, and didn't drain it exactly right, we'd get charged like 250 bucks!! Grrr. So, the order of the day was to pee in plastic cups and chuck them out of the moving RV. Gross, eh? I managed to control MY bladder between stops!! Ooh, later I'll post the "stupid drunk sailor's sayings" that I wrote down for the weekend. They're fucking HILARIOUS.

Sunday we sailed six races. Good wind. We started earlier in the day to avoid the small craft advisory type winds. We left after loading our boats on the trailer, but we had to stop at Kristen's cousin's place because Our lights weren't working. Which meant a vain search for the fuses ensued until her uncle found them under the dashboard. He fixed the stuff, and we left at like 6-7pm. Got home at three, drinking all the way. Good weekend on the whole. I'll give more details when I post the funny sayings later today.

Friday, April 04, 2003

Geeze. I Woke up this morning at nine...late for me, and realized that my other alarm clock was blinking "4:22" repeatedly. Stupid gits that turn off the power in the dorms. Ah Well, at least the alarm that I use runs on batteries. Never thought that I'd be glad to say that.

Well, COB was lovely last night, except for the fact that I didn't get to talk to ANY of the girls, really. I was serving food the whole time. And THEN, cleaning up. Oh, the stress. So, at the end of the night, I took some of the flowers and all of the balloons home with me--I deserved it, damnit! I worked the whole time~! Mmmm, I do love yellow roses. Exciting.

Now, I'm trying to de-stress from packing for St. Francis this weekend. I still am kind of feeling stressed. I est my alarm early on my desk... you know, "spring forward"? Well, I kept looking at it, and started to panic, thinking I had half an hour left to pack and then get to class! So, I flipped out. Then, I look at my wristwatch, and go, "OHMIGOD, I'M SOOO BLOND!" (I'm not). So, maybe I'll have time after I finish this to do my dishes and all the other things I've left undone. I think this is it for today.

Oh, Here is some more zen goodness:

Movement and stillness:
Both are part of the same principle,
Emotions of this dusty world
Are not as important as the Way,
So I endure this thin paper robe
Until the dawn bell,
While pomegranate leaves and mulberry
Branches dance in the north wind.

- Tesshu Tokusai (d.1366)

A little melancholy, no? *Siiiiiiiigh*

Thursday, April 03, 2003

Am so tired. I got my desk cleaned, answered all my email, bought my books, and put away most of my dirty clothes. I still haven't even started packing for this weekend. Damn I'm fucked. Oh well. I'm going to bed now, and maybe I'll feel better tomorrow and will get creative here. Not today. Too tired. TO BED!

Took another look at my dorm room door today. Still v. depressing. It's still blank. Sad that the juvenile fuckers around here feel they have to steal ONLY my door decorations/comics cut out of the newspaper. How sad is that, huh? Why can't the fuckers just get their own stinkin' door decorations? If I catch whoever the klepto is, I'm gonna get violent on their ass and make them give my stuff back. Boooooooo!

On another note. I got my books, and that's about it. Must get more done. Rats. Well, gotta get cracka-lackin', because sorority COB starts tonight, and I hafta be at the house at five. Stink! Ah well, I hope I get a lil' sis. Am excited all the same. More later, perhaps, about COB. For your edification, of course.

I wonder if anyone reads these blogs anyhow? There's so many of them, it's unbelievable. Send me a note if you read mine! I'm at Laineylong@libertyhaven.com....

SEND! SEND! SPREAD THE LOVE!

Oh, Shit. forgot the zen thing last night...Here is last night's, and you'll get one for today too. Later. MUCH later.

One’s own nature is great because
It can contain all things.
As all things are contained in
Your own nature,
If good and bad people are
Viewed with neither attachment
Nor repulsion, also without
Contamination, the mind which
Is like space, is called great.
For this reason, it is called maha.

- Altar Sutra

Ha-HA! A new day, still without most of my books for my classes. And you were accusing me of being an overachiever, huh? Yeahhhh-RIGHT! Okay, things on today's "To Do" list: Call tyler (guy) and ask him to formal. Pay $55 FOR formal. Clean my Desk. Answer Email. Watch Video(steal/borrow someone's vcr to do so), purchase my books, write in my journal (not just this thing), READ books, email heather's email address to ucla UAS, email mom an update of what's going on...and why the school gave me a 946 dollar check/rebate thingie (??-!) and finally, clean my dirty dishes and put away my dirty clothes. Sounds ambitious, eh? Ah well. We'll see how well I do. Wow, it really does sound like I'm an overachiever. Nuts!
I still haven't figured this thing out. How do I get the freakin' page to display in html stuff so I can change it around and add stuff? Damnnit!

Wednesday, April 02, 2003

Oh wow, oh wow, this guy IS a psycho. Hey, jules, you think the preachers on your campus are nuts? This is what WE get here.....
http://www.arborwood.com/awforums/show-topic-1.php?start=11&fid=1705&taid=1&topid=154

Wow, I hate this thing. I'm trying to fix it up, and it's being poopy. Ah well. Maybe I'll try again later. Stupid git. It wont' display right. Bloody thing.
Mood: GRRRRRR

Siiiiiiiigh. Long day. Or at least, it BECAME a really long day. I had a late seminar class, and then went straight from that to a UAS (undergraduate astronomy society) meeting....with lots of funny nerdy jokes and fun stargazing and Jupiter gazing. Oh! And Heather appeared near the end of the gazing and we had a great time. Speaking of funny, my sister is such an alcoholic yah (hee hee) she wants to to go drinking this weekend at St. Francis. Hooray for sailing regattas. Lots of really drunk peepz hangin' out, shmoozing. And feeling each other up...mostly talking though. You get more felt up at frat parties, I personally think. The last frat (drinking) party I went to, I seem to remember lots of people groping other people, etc. A-N-Y-Way....On to more fun topics. Like for example this amusing site:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/kim_jong_il__

Whoever comes up with these suckers is a genius. An amusing genius at that. Oh, Speaking of my seminar on urban planning in the "built environment," I heard several good quotes today in class. one of them was "You can't change people, but you can change their lightbulbs." -Frank DiMassa. Pretty cool when you consider that by replacing your incandescent lightbulbs with energy-saving flourescents, you can save up to 70% in efficiency and cost! Wow, am amazed by my techno-geekiness once again. Hee hee, another quote was that incandescent lights are "heaters that give off a little light." Courtesy of my TA, TH. Yeah, that's his name, unless we're referring to him as Tha' Homie. Hey, and if you use LED's, you have a 98% decrease in energy use...and save a LOT of moola. (dough, wad, cash, cha-ching...) AND, the government/ energy companies often offer subsidies for putting solar roof tiles (available in black, silver, gold and blue) on your house to cut peak energy loads during the summer. Wow, I'm going to SO do that when I get my own home. The stuff's pretty fire retardant too. not to mention pretty looking.

Well, I'm happy. I got back lots of feedback so far from my insanely large letter to all my friends. Wait till I tell them that I have a blog. They'll REALLY be amused. Have I mentioned that I really love Julie? She just randomly came by and visited me (after reading the letter) for tea and extra sugary biscuits. Mmmm. Orange powdered sugar biscuits. That would be biscuits in the ENGLISH sense of the word (cookies, ya numbnuts). Hee hee, j/k. But hooray for friends. I luvs ya! And Heather too, for goofing off and accusing me of being cheese pizza and biting me today...just for the silliness of it all. I swear we have our own language of "Meh"'s and grunts. ha ha ha.

GAWD it was freaking freezing here today. I honestly don't know what to do with myself here at UCLA-- i don't know how to dress for the weather. I wore long pants and shoes and a t-shirt, but it was really big thick jacket kind of day. I swear, I was confused. How can it be cold when the sun is shining so brightly? So Lost. I guess I should turn on the news in the morning, but that would wake the roomies. I just CAN'T win. Brrrrr. Still cold. I had to run back up to the room before UAS to get beanie, sweatshirt and gloves. Good thing I had them. The ninth floor of the astronomy building gets really cold and windy. I was 40 minutes late, but it didn't matter much. They just goofed off until I arrived, and THEN started the meeting. Does this make me a good motivator? I think I have doubts...

Booo, my little zen garden fell of my printer today, but I managed to salvage it and it is now sitting SAFELY on my desk. boohoo. Hmm. I should probably water my plants too, if I don't want them to suddenly die on me. That MIGHT be good, huh?

How do I make this thing/blog able to get feedback from people? I must figure this out....so people can make comments. Comments are always amusing. Yeah. Hmm. More later, perhaps?

Oh, Music of the Minute, randomly selected by Winamp:
Braveheart keo "amazing grace".
Wow, that's my RA's name. Cool.

Tuesday, April 01, 2003

Well, I’m back with lots of goodies. First, I’m posting this letter I sent to all my buddies, just because it’s amusing and I figured it’d help people figure out if they were at the right blog. Grrr. Evil blogspot lost my last trial of posting this, so this one ain’t as amusing. Phooey. Here goes:
______________________________________________
ALLRIGHT EVERYONE! It's that time of the year again.... (No, i don't mean it's Christmas. Geeze, gullible gits, aren't you!) No, oh privileged ones, it's time for another completely INSANE email update from LAINE! Which should, of course, spawn a series of replies from you all...we do hope! And we do mean SPAWN. Like Fish. So, GO TO IT! YESH, YOU.
Soooo, What's happening? Well, let's see. Laine has joined a sorority (Alpha Epsilon Phi) and met some wonderful people. One of these people is her big sis' Bridget, a music major/flute player, as well as julie, sarah, heather, and the rest of her frickin' PLEDGE CLASS HOTTIES! Yes, Elaine is slightly insane, so don't worry about any pretenses of sanity.
Laine has also joined the sailing team and sailed mondays wednesdays and fridays last quarter and is now sailing every day but wednesday this quarter, conceivably. She sails with Brent, her own personal sex slave, whoops, I meant Crew....and skipper on windy days. (We have jokes about his liking the female domination thing, hee hee hee). Recently (two weekends ago), She shipped out with the UCLA sailing team for a weekend of fulsome frolic at Santa Barbara. We of course, disclaim any drinking or crazy dancing until three am which MIGHT have occurred (did) during that weekend... There were no hangover's involved, so nobody should have any concerns, right? hee hee hee LOL. The sailing was pretty good too...incidentally. Hey, if anyone has Phil's email, tell him to gimme my cd case the next time I see him...=D
Laine Made it through quarter numero dos with few problems, after taking a rigorous THREE...(count them)... THREE classes. They were history of latin america, spanish 5, and Environmental science m1B Wow, Laine is a slackmeister. But! No slacking this quarter, with a total of four classes: Spanish 6, computer science 2, a three hour environmental science seminar, and a japanese/russian/english gender studies class. Wow, interesting stuff. Laine came back from the first day of the computer class with an understanding of binary basic, and then proceeded to figure out how to program the words "YOUR MOTHERBOARD IS A WHORE" to her immense delight (and lots of giggling and snorting) and then posted it in her aim profile for all to enjoy. =D (like we said, standard disclaimers for the insanity clause). Go see it at HWTEgrl.
GUESS WHAT?!?! You can't, can you? Pathetic, whimpering fools. NOW YOU SHALL KNOW THE ANSWER TO IT ALLLLLL!!!! Okay, no, but there is good news and bad news. What? What's that you say? Oh, you want the good news. Well, I think that I've gotten a concrete idea of the majors that I want: Poly Sci with a concentration in international relations, and Environmental Engineering. WITH minors in spanish and computer science. Wow, am I crazy or what. Yeah, thanks. Quit nodding your heads! Geeze, no love. Bad news...well, lets just say BUSH. That about sums it all up for me. I sure as hell don't support our war of aggression, but, feeling sorry for all our troops overseas, I support THEM. So would you if you were in their shoes...you'd hope for someone to want you to come home safe and alive. We all Hope sarah's fiance makes it back in GRRRRRRREAT shape...eheh heh heh. Sorry, am dirty minded too.
Laine is POSTITIVE that you will be tittilated (whee!) to know that she has taught herself how to knit. That's right, knit. Her current project, originally planned as a griffindor scarf, is much too wide and incidentally, are the wrong colors here at UCLA (*red and gold are anathema....USC colors, ya kno'). So, perhaps it will become a shawl or wall hanging or something. *sighs* She also has adopted a small plot of ornamental grass...its about three inches high today.
All is once again right in the world...well, ok, Laine's room/world. Laine's feelings of beneficience have once again descended after a much needed week of spring break frolic (lots of sewing of handbags and sleeping) and she is no longer desirous of killing or maiming any of her roomies. This is a good thing. Living in a closet with two other people is not fun. Try it sometime, we suggest. See if you are driven to further heights of insanity too. (I know, i was already insane BEFORE so...) Hmmm. Laine also made off like a bandit (^^) with lots of food and goodies to stock the dorm room pantry, so that also helps her attitude. Have we mentioned that food is good? Speaking of food, UCLA now has the number one dorm food in the nation. Anyone want to visit me now? HE HE HE
Laine still enjoys playing her violin, and has a new friend, Jolee (love ya, chica!) who gets Laine international Stamps(!!). Ah, the joys of college life. It is now the THIRD time that Laine has redecorated her room, including several new plants that were house-sat for a friend over spring break and haven't been returned. YeT. Maybe She'll just plant-nap them for good, who knows! Laine has also fallen in love with her mini zen sand garden sitting on top of her printer. Hooray for zen! =D)
The birthday of elaine was very nice--low key. Laine LOVED getting cards from krystle, Heather and Julie. LOVE YOU! THANK YOU! And, best of all, Laine got PIZZA on her birthday for dinner! It has now taken her approximately 19 years to have this achievement...never having had such a thing happen before. And, to think, all it took was a lazy mom who didn't want to cook on monday night!!!
And now, your favorite portion of this extremely long rant:
THE SHOUT OUTS!
Hey, Tara, wanna come visit me? Puh-LEEEEZE! Even if you don't wanna go here...come make me feel loved, eh? Yesh? Hmmm. Hey, sexxy hot chica in SD, loves ya, loves ya! We be gettin' down in da hood sista---'cept i'm from the burbs...I got a 43 on the ghetto survey. Booo! Hmmm. To the lady of colombia, aka drug queen (ah ha ha ha--that's a joke, get it?) WASSSSSUP!?!? How'sit hangin'? I haven't heard a peep from you in SO long. Heck, nor from pantea or anyone else except for tyler, who loves me very much. And who is definitely going to the blue man group with me IF I HAFTA STAND IN LINE AT THE GAWRSH-DANGED WILTERN!! (Because I don't know where it is yet, but I'll find it once i get off my lazy ass.) And rachelle must come too.
Hey, speaking of fun stuff you mightn't of heard about, did you know there's a "rhps"-like moulin rouge (shit, can't spell either) showing down in westwood? Everyone dresses up and dances the night away...and the theatre is decorated SO cool! Wowzers. Am going, if they are still doing it this month. I missed doing it in March. Too busy stuffing my head up my.....or something.
Till, How is it over in Italy? Is it crazy like here with lots of protesters and some pyromaniacs starting fires and people getting arrested and helicopters distracting irritated students trying to study for finals? (This is a recap of several events that I've heard about in the USA...) That was two weeks ago, and they're still going on. Crazy. I think I'll have to go to one, just to see.
Hey, on a random note, I GOT A TAN! I'm not dark, just a shade less white than my usual "nuclear flash bright-whiteness" and it feels good. Oh yeah, baby! No funky tan lines or anything. This hot CA weather the past few days has been great for sunbathing and swimming. Brent, MAH HOMIE, WASSSUP IN YO' CRIB, YO! Email me back already! I'm impatient....*fingers tapping* Cheryl...How's it going? Any cool job prospects or classes lately? How did your arcitecture class go? Giuli, Hope you are well, since I haven't heard from you in a while...
On a romantic note, nothing to say, currently. You nosy punks you! I love ya anyhow, despite the lack of news on Elaine's love life. Oh, and THANK YOU GAJILLIONS AUNTIE KATE FOR THE FABRIC!!! Can we say, "Oh, Whooopieeee!" (think with thick british accent) I'm so excited, I'm gonna jiggle myself off my chair here. =D *clunk* Whoops.
Okay, I think I'd better let you all go, before the "freedom fries" come and attack me. I told you I was insane, right? right? right? I told you I was Insane, riiiiight? Oh god, make it stop! But before the apocalypse now comes and destroys our planet (its too late for us anyways) I'm going to go.
BYE.
'Laine the Insane
(who can't spell)
MMMmmmMMmmMMMMmm. These cookies and tea are good. Uhoh, I'm out of tea!

Ok, so there ya go! Good shit there. Yup. Oh, hey, here's the funny AIM binary basic code...essentially:

#H#X11001*1111*10101*10010#1101*1111*10100*1000*101*10010*10*1111*1*10010*100#1001*10011#1#10111*1000*1111*10010*101#!X That's computer for "your motherboard is a WHORE!"

Anybody think I've got too much free time on my hands? And so, to add on the the fun stuff, here’s some of the funny Bush-Bashing sites I found on the web...and a couple sobering ones. If you don’t agree with them, don’t flame me. I Honestly DON’T care if you disagree. This blog is solely MY opinion.....but if you’re a close personal friend, flame away! Here ya go, run buck wild!

And now, a final thought for the night brought to you courtesy of the really awesome http://www.dailyzen.com!

The birds have vanished into the sky,
And now the last cloud drains away.
We sit together, the mountain and me,
Until only the mountain remains.
- Li T’ai-po (701-?)

Okay, now the fun begins. Or the Insanity. Or something else. No one is sure, NOT EVEN ME! So, more later after the hunger demons have been satisfied by offerings of food. Julie comes now to take me Awayeeeeeee!
